Qinetiq
The starting gun for Labour's first Tory-style privatisation is expected to be fired very soon, when the Government gives the go-ahead to the £1.1bn flotation of Qinetiq, the defence research group.
Virgin Mobile
Institutional shareholders in Virgin Mobile have told the company's board that it should reject any takeover bid from NTL of less than 400p per share.
Google
Shares in Google, the internet search company founded by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, could rise to $2,000, making it the world's most valuable company.
Boots
Boots, the high street chemist, will this week announce the biggest fall in quarterly sales for five years, dealing a serious blow to its £6bn agreed merger with Alliance Unichem, the drug distributor and pharmacy group.

EasyJet
The low-cost airline has recruited the top City bank Goldman Sachs to defend it from a potential bid from FL Group, the acquisitive Icelandic company that owns Icelandair. The appointment of Goldman underlines the seriousness with which the Easyjet board, led by chairman Sir Colin Chandler, is taking the Icelandic interest.
Compass
The departing bosses of the Compass catering group, Sir Francis Mackay and Mike Bailey, have both enjoyed a £1m boost to their pensions — at a time when the troubled company is wrestling with a £532m deficit in its employees' retirement schemes.

Ladbrokes
Private-equity firm CVC Capital Partners has strengthened its hand ahead of a potential £3bn bid for Ladbrokes, Britain's biggest bookmaker. CVC has hired Greenhill, the investment bank, to provide advice on how to structure an offer. It has also begun discussions with banks about putting together a debt package.

BP lawsuit
An oil company that claims it fell victim to extortion in Russia has accused BP and its chief executive Lord Browne of profiting from its plight. Norex Petroleum of Canada is demanding up to $2bn in compensation and punitive damages in a lawsuit against BP and its boss, among others.
Tesco
Sir Terry Leahy, chief executive of Tesco, has ruled out making a significant acquisition in the United States, but plans to expand in China, where he wants the company to be a major force.
Retail bankruptcy
Rumours were swirling in the City on Friday that another major British retailer was about to go bankrupt as conditions continue to deteriorate on the high street.

Arcadia
Philip Green is facing a potential row with the Pensions Regulator after admitting that he did not consult the Government watchdog before moving last week to force staff at his Arcadia group to pay more and work five years longer before collecting their pensions.
MySpace
Angry members of MySpace, the personal file-sharing website for young adults, are accusing Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation of censoring their postings and blocking their access to rival sites.
RBS
An American lawsuit brought by 14 victims of terrorism and their families alleges that the London-based charity Interpal funnelled millions of dollars to Palestinian terrorists through accounts held in Britain with the NatWest Bank, which was bought by RBS in 2000.
