This article is more than 17 years old

Letts revision guides, which have helped generations of schoolchildren mug up for exams, has been sold to Huveaux publishing group for £12m.

Huveaux, the Aim-listed media and publishing company, will announce today that it has acquired Letts Educational and Leckie & Leckie, leading providers of study aids and revision guides in England and Scotland.

The businesses are currently part of Granada Learning, which is owned by the private equity group Veronis Suhler Stevenson. Huveaux already owns the rival Lonsdale revision guides, which operates mainly in secondary schools, while Letts and Leckie & Leckie provide study aids for pre-schoolers to A-level.

The market is worth £45m a year and is expanding rapidly as the government introduces more tests and schools focus on league tables.

Letts has more than 400 titles, many carefully tailored to different syllabuses. The combined group will own more than 800 titles in both print and online formats.

Letts has branched out into the internet with a website, Letts-SuccessZone.com, where pupils can read about how to overcome exam nerves as well as what to eat for better exam performance.
