Mission scores in debut

This article is more than 17 years old

Mission Marketing cheered investors yesterday with maiden results showing profits of almost £1m since it listed on the junior stock market Aim in April.

The advertising and communications group's first-half profits were up a fifth on a pro forma basis. It said the second half had started well, with a new online contract to advertise Mates condoms.

This comes on top of a World Cup boost when Mission was behind Carlsberg's metatarsal campaign playing on Wayne Rooney's injury and adverts for the alcopop WKD featuring a stripping football fan, pictured above.

It also used John Terry to promote King of Shaves skincare products and was delighted when he became England captain. "Pretty clever of us, don't you think? Or perhaps very lucky," said the chief executive Iain Ferguson.
