Boreham Wood Town 2

Hemel Hempstead Youth 1

Bushey Friendly League U12s Boreham Wood Town had to come back from behind to earn a hard-fought victory over Hemel in their opening league encounter.

Striker Danny Comber netted twice in the last ten minutes to secure a 2-1 win for his side, newly promoted to the division. Town started strongly and dominated the first half but were thwarted by a great display from the Hemel keeper, and a number of near misses.

Hemel were always dangerous on the break but Town stood firm, with both Spencer Cocomazzi and Mitchell Clews outstanding in defence. The stalemate was broken after the break when Town's custodian Denis Paratusic was deceived by a wicked bounce.

Town kept pressing, however, and were rewarded with two late goals. The first, a great lob from the edge of the box, will be an early candidate for goal of the season.

TOWN: Paratusic, Hadley, Bird, stone, Clews, Cocomazzi, May, Comber, Evans, Balic, Shabaz. Subs: Cleary, Hall.
