The Sunday Telegraph
Healthy results last week from BT reflected out-going chief executive Ben Verwaayen's transformation of the group, offsetting declining telephone revenues with a booming broadband and IT services business.
The group has shed costs and boosted dividend payments under Mr Verwaayen's six-year reign, and now compares well with UK rivals. Investors should buy at 233½p. The current commodities boom has focused investors' attention on metals, but iodine producer Iofina could be worth a look.
Iodine - a relatively rare element used in applications such as LCD displays and cosmetics - has recently soared in price to around 28 US dollars a kilo. The firm claims to have developed the cheapest way of producing iodine and aims to make 1,500 tonnes a year. The shares are rated a buy at 66.5p.
