FTSE 100 preview: Shares to rise ahead of QE news
The FTSE 100 index is seen opening higher on Wednesday, building on the previous session's gains, reflecting strength on Wall Street on optimism about the housing sector.

According to financial bookmakers, the blue chip index is set to rise as much as 0.3%, after closing up 34.67 points at 5,328.66 on Tuesday.
The S&P 500 logged another 14-month high on Tuesday as stocks rallied on a surge in existing home sales, which indicated more stabilization in housing and boosted optimism about the economic recovery.
In terms of domestic economics news, investors will be eyeing the minutes from the Bank of England's latest interest rate policy meeting.
On the other side of the Atlantic, US new home sales data for November will be of interest.
Britain's central bank is prepared to expand its quantitative easing programme to ensure economic recovery is sustained, the Daily Mail reported, citing authoritative sources.
The French government has ordered military vehicles and servicing worth £220m from BAE Systems, said The Times.
Land Securities, Britain's largest property company, made only its first acquisition for 2009 on Tuesday with the purchase of a site in Glasgow for close to £10m
BP has discovered a leak in an oil pipeline from one well at the giant Prudhoe Bay field, the third pipeline leak reported by the oil major over the past month on Alaska's North Slope.
The company said there was no 'appreciable' impact to production from the event, which spilled a mixture of oil, produced water and natural gas at Prudhoe Bay, the largest US oil field.
Shanks has denied Carlyle access to its accounts after the private equity firm refused to increase its offer for the group beyond 135p per share, said the Daily Telegraph.
