Called Vislink China, the joint venture with an unnamed specialist distributor will seek to sell specialist cameras and other equipment to China’s television stations.

The market is said to be worth £1.1billion, though the business has not started trading.

Vislink chief executive Duncan Lewis said: “The broadcast market in China is an increasingly important part of our business.

“The formation of Vislink China gives us a unique opportunity to rapidly increase our presence in this market, acclerate revenue growth and win new customers.” Among the key products Vislink is looking at supplying are cameras capable of wirelessly transmitting images to satellite broadcasting trucks, which then beam them on.

Chris Wilson, a director of Vislink China, said the joint venture would allow the group to develop new opportunties in the country’s broadcast industry and beyond. The new venture will be headquartered in Beijing.

Vislink supplies a range of satellite and mobile services to broadcasters. The company currently rakes in annual revenues of around £100million.

Other customers supplied by the group include police, public safety bodies and the marine and energy markets.
