Travis's move for BSS put on ice

Builders merchant Travis Perkins' planned £558m purchase of BSS Group has been put on ice after the Office of Fair Trading said it needs more time to examine the deal.

Travis Perkins, which runs the Wickes home improvements chain, said the OFT has extended its deadline for deciding on the deal to October 19.

The takeover would create Britain's biggest plumbing and heating trade and retail distribution business.

Shares in Travis Perkins fell 14p to 840p and BSS lost 4.6p to 450.1p.
