Tycoon bids for slice of Wolseley

A Malaysian property tycoon is in talks to buy a 50 per cent stake in London's upmarket Wolseley restaurant.

The stake is owned by family trusts belonging to Guy Naggar and Peter Klimt, the entrepreneurs behind the collapsed Dawnay Day empire.

Sources said the pair have been given a deadline to pay a sum to Dawnay administrator BDO.

It is thought if they are unable to do this, BDO may take the stake in lieu of sums owed. BDO would then seek to sell the holding.

Based in Mayfair, the Wolseley is frequented by the likes of Cheryl Cole (pictured with X-Factor winner Alexandra Burke, after a meal at the restaurant).

Founders Jeremy King and Chris Corbin, who own the other half, have to give their seal of approval before new investors are allowed to buy the stake.
