AG Barr fizzing on rising sales

AG Barr, the firm behind Scotland's favourite soft drink Irn-Bru, reported rising revenues, but warned about volatility in the cost of ingredients.

The firm said it was wrestling with price hikes for sugar and for key component polyethylene terephthalate (PET), revealing at least two ingredients - along with girders - of its zealously-guarded recipe for Irn-Bru.

But AG Barr (down 10p to 1108p) said demand for the drink stayed strong.

Continuing thirst for Irn-Bru helped third-quarter revenues to rise by 6.4%, bringing sales growth for the first nine months to 11.6%.
