Hornby feels Christmas sales chill
Hornby, down 15p at 123p, was the latest UK company to join the chorus of retailers blaming the severe winter weather for their poor holiday performance.
The toy maker said pre-Christmas sales were lower than expected as customers stuck at home by the snow left toys unsold and forced stores to reduce their restocking orders after the holidays.
Also, supply problems meant not enough Hornby trains made it across the channel and French and Dutch children had to settle for alternative gifts.
