STV settles legal wrangle with ITV
Broadcaster STV has reached an £18m settlement to end a bad-tempered legal feud with ITV.
The firms have been in locked in a bitter dispute since late 2009 when ITV launched a £38m lawsuit after STV began to drop peak time shows such as Marple and Midsomer Murders.
The Scottish group, which owns the ITV franchise north of the border, then countersued for £37m.
STV (up 24.5p to 161p) will pay out £7.2m this year. A further £10.8m will be due in December, which will be satisfied either by handing ITV programme rights or cash.
