Sausage-maker Cranswick sees meaty profits
Pork producer Cranswick, which makes Jamie Oliver branded sausages, posted record full-year profits yesterday on increased trading but warned that rising raw material prices may hurt sales next year.
The FTSE 250 business, which also sells premium bacon and sausages to a range of supermarkets including Sainsbury's and Tesco, posted pre-tax profit up 8% to £47.1m on sales up 4% at £758m.
Chairman Martin Davey said it had been a 'very positive year' for the business.
However, the firm added that rising grain prices and a difficult consumer market may make 2012 'more demanding than usual'.
