Shanks cleans up on sales and profits
Waste management company Shanks, up 3.2p at 121.8p, reported a better-than-expected 6% rise in underlying pre-tax profit to £35.2m.
The group makes around half its sales in the Netherlands and recently won a recycling contract with Anglo-Dutch consumer goods giant Unilever there.
The company said the market for its services is improving but that it had faced the most challenging conditions in many years over the past few months.
Group revenues in the year to the end of March rose 5% to £717m and the dividend was increased by 8% to 3.25p a share.
