Waitrose cool on Iceland takeover
Waitrose would be interested in buying Iceland stores but does not want to buy the whole chain or a majority stake.
The upmarket supermarket chain's managing director Mark Price said: 'I think whoever gets it we'd be happy to work with, if the shops fitted our demographic. But we wouldn't go in on the basis we'd be the major party.'
Morrisons and Sainsbury's are thought to be interested, but anyone looking to buy outright could face competition from founder and boss Malcolm Walker who, with management, owns 23%.
