Domino's Pizza reports record sales after a £14.99 winter promotion became its most popular meal deal ever

The public’s appetite for its 1,600-calorie Winter Survival meal deal contributed to bulging profits at Domino’s Pizza.

Britain’s biggest pizza delivery firm reported record figures, with sales rising by 10.8 per cent in the 13 weeks to March 30.

This was fuelled partly by the calorie-laden £14.99 winter offer, which Domino’s said was its most popular meal deal ever.

Some 69.4 per cent of UK delivered sales now come over the internet, up from 61.9 per cent in the same period a year ago.

Sales through all online platforms grew by a quarter to £103million, with 34 per cent through mobile devices.

The group, which has over 860 outlets, mainly in the UK, said sales were also up in smaller businesses in Ireland, Switzerland and Germany.

It notched up a 1.9 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £47.6million in February but was hit by heavy costs related to impairments and other charges in the loss-making German business.

Domino’s (down 1.5p to 556p) is close to naming a new chief executive.

Ex-Halfords boss David Wild has been running the group temporarily since Lance Batchelor’s defection on January 31 to over-50’s financial and travel group Saga.
