Ted Baker shrugged off the unseasonably warm weather that caused rivals Next and SuperGroup to issue profits warnings with a strong rise in third quarter sales.

The fashion chain, which has launched a range for tall men, modelled by Olympic swimmer Mark Foster, said sales rose 15.7 per cent for the 13 weeks to November 8.

It said it had seen strong sales of its autumn/winter ranges and that its operations abroad had diluted the effect of the UK weather.

Shares in Ted Baker, which has over 380 stores and concessions around the world, closed at 2079p, down 6p.

Founder and chief executive Ray Kelvin said: ‘The reaction to our autumn/winter collections across our international markets has been very encouraging and we have further store openings planned for the coming months in Miami and Heathrow Terminal 4, and a further outlet store in China.’
