CHEVRON has handed front end engineering and design contracts to expand the Captain oil and gas field to Wood Group.

The US oil and gas giant said the work is aimed at boosting the field's output using polymer injection technology.

Aberdeen-based Wood Group has been tasked to work on the subsea engineering of the trees, wellheads, controls and polymer injection flowlines to the subsea injection wells.

Amec Foster Wheeler, the engineering heavyweight which this week acquired Aberdeen's Scopus Group, has also won a contract from Chevron to work on the project.
