The British fashion veteran who ran Jaeger for more than a decade is trying to buy the business back from Jon Moulton’s Better Capital.

Harold Tillman has approached the Tory donor with an offer for the business, which comprises around 50 stores. ‘I feel a great sense of personal affection towards the brand,’ he said over the weekend.

‘I would like the approach to be given due consideration by the shareholders at Better Capital.’

Tillman ran Jaeger for ten years until 2012, when Better Capital orchestrated a deal with Jaeger’s lenders to take control of it.
