Top Spanish official sees GDP continuing to grow at a 'reasonable' pace

(Sharecast News) - Spain's Secretary of State for Economy, Ana de la Cueva, has reassured that Spain will continue to grow at a reasonable rate and above that of the Eurozone, despite the context of uncertainty hanging over the global economy, including the US-China trade war and Brexit.
At an event on Thursday evening marking the 20th anniversary of online media outlet Bolsamanía.com (Sharecast's sister website in Spain), she also said that the "solid" growth in Spain is "generating employment, without creating unsustainable bubbles."

That was being achieved despite the "growing trade tensions between China and the US, which cause uncertainty" and the "expectations of economic agents to deteriorate."

Nonetheless, she urged caution regarding the UK's withdrawal process from the EU as "Brexit does not make the horizon any clearer."

Ahead of the creation of a new government in Spain, which she expected to occur soon, De la Cueva said that it would target three main objectives: "budget stability, social cohesion and structural reforms. "

"If we don't want to jeopardize sustainability we have to take action," she said.

The remained of her speech focused on the topic of sustainable finance, saying that work at the European level was already under way to "close this process" and help the financial sector to channel resources towards sustainable activities.
