Houseparty offers $1m bounty for proof of hacking rumours

(Sharecast News) - Video chat app Houseparty has offered a 1$m bounty to anyone with proof that rumours on social media that its platform can be hacked are true.
Some social media users claimed that they had since been locked out of accounts from third party apps, including Netflix, PayPal, Spotify and even banking services providers, after downloading Houseparty.

The app said that it believes the rumours were being "spread by a paid commercial smear campaign" and offered to pay a $1m bounty to anyone who can offer proof of said campaign's veracity.

The app has become very popular amid the coronavirus outbreak as it allows people to simultaneously videochat with multiple friends and family who may be separated due to quarantine measures.

Houseparty offered no additional information on why it suspects commercial foul play.
