Filtronic reports blockbuster growth in 'transformative' year

By Josh White

Date: Tuesday 29 Jul 2025

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Aerospace, defence, space, and telecommunications infrastructure products firm Filtronic reported transformational growth for the year ended 31 May on Tuesday.
The AIM-traded company reported significant improvements across all financial metrics, driven by successful execution of its growth strategy and expansion in key markets.

Revenue for the year surged 121% to £56.3m, while adjusted EBITDA increased 247% to £17m.

Operating profit reached £13.4m, up 272% from the prior year, with profit before tax climbing 294% to £13.4m.

Profit for the year also saw a remarkable increase of 352%, reaching £14m.

Basic earnings per share rose by 343% to 6.42p, while diluted earnings per share grew 329% to 6.05p.

The company's cash position improved significantly, with cash at bank reaching £14.5m, up 101%, and net cash increasing by 157% to £10.8m.

Filtronic's said its operations reflected a strong execution of its growth strategy, with significant achievements in the aerospace and defence sectors.

The company secured a record order intake in the space sector, including landmark agreements with SpaceX, Viasat, the European Space Agency, and Airbus.

In the defence sector, Filtronic strengthened its position with new contracts, including an airborne radar application contract with Leonardo and progress on projects with QinetiQ and BAE Maritime Systems.

The company also made strides in innovation, particularly in the transition from Gallium Arsenide (GaAs) to Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology, which it said would enhance satellite and defence systems.

Filtronic achieved a milestone with the successful launch of Prometheus, the highest-power solid state power amplifier on the market, and expanded its development into higher-frequency RF bands, particularly V band, opening new market opportunities.

Looking ahead, Filtronic said it was confident about its future prospects.

The company said it was investing in a new, custom-built facility in Sedgefield, which would double its UK manufacturing footprint by the first half of the 2026 financial year to meet growing demand.

With a strong commercial momentum, a robust order book, and a healthy cash position, Filtronic said it was well-positioned to capitalise on long-term growth drivers in its key markets, including the growing convergence of space, aerospace, and defence sectors, all of which require high-frequency, secure, and resilient communications infrastructure.

"2025 has been a transformative year for Filtronic, showcasing the successful execution of our growth strategy," said chief executive Nat Edington.

"Our record revenue growth and landmark wins in the space and defence sectors reflect the trust placed in us by global players and that our technology is meeting real world demand."

As the company entered the 2026 financial year, Edington said it was confident in its trajectory, with a strong order book, healthy cash position, and a strengthened leadership team in place.

"The transition to GaN technology, expansion into higher-frequency bands, and our move to a new, larger manufacturing facility will enable us to scale effectively and capitalise on the significant opportunities ahead."

At 1447 BST, shares in Filtronic were down 0.69% at 150.45p.
