LONDON (ShareCast) - Belgium telecom firm Belgacom was the worst Stoxx600 component this morning with a 4.5% drop.
The poor performance is on the back of two factors: weaker financial results compared to a year ago, along with forecasts that missed estimates, and a Goldman Sachs downgrade of the telecom sector to underweight. The sector is currently the most bearish on the European index.
Looking at 2011 results, Belgacome saw revenue fall 8.8% to €6.42bn, while EBITDA fell 3.7% to €1.91bn.
