Seeing Machines selected by 'leading' Japanese automaker

By Josh White

Date: Wednesday 29 Oct 2025

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Seeing Machines said on Wednesday that it has been selected by a leading Japanese automotive manufacturer to deliver an advanced development project (ADP) for a driver and occupant monitoring system, marking a significant step in expanding its presence in Japan's vehicle technology market.
The AIM-traded computer vision and AI specialist said the project would involve the development of a feature-rich Driver and Occupant Monitoring System (DMS/OMS) platform tailored to the OEM's requirements.

It said it expected the formal production award for the platform during the first half of 2026, with production expected to begin in the second half of 2028.

The company said the selection reflected the growing use of ADP phases by Japanese carmakers before awarding full production contracts, a process it expected to become increasingly common.

"We are delighted to be working directly with a prominent Japanese OEM on this project, demonstrating our commitment, technical capability and alignment with their requirements," said chief executive Paul McGlone.

"This engagement reflects growing recognition of our AI-powered DMS/OMS capability and marks an exciting milestone in our expansion within the Japanese automotive market.

"Japan is a growing opportunity for us in automotive and accounts for a large proportion of the current Seeing Machines RFQ pipeline.

"We look forward to strengthening this partnership, receiving the formal award in due course and delivering innovative in-cabin technology that enhances transport safety globally."

At 1431 GMT, shares in Seeing Machines were up 3.2% at 3.55p.
