Solid State subsidiary wins £1.65m contract with DSTL

By Iain Gilbert

Date: Monday 29 Sep 2025

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Value added components business Solid State said on Monday that its Steatite subsidiary has been awarded a £1.65m contract by The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory, an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence.
Solid State said the contract will see it design, develop, qualify, and supply complex integrated systems for the DSTL, delivered from Steatite's newly established integrated systems facility, reinforcing its commitment to supporting the UK's defence capabilities with sovereign-designed and manufactured innovative, high-quality engineered solutions.

Under the contract, Steatite will produce a series of rugged 31U, large cabinet enclosures, each integrating seven precision-engineered Line Replaceable Units, together with a standalone Human Computer Interface.

The AIM-listed firm said the systems will be designed to MOD specifications and built in accordance with relevant defence standards. They will also undergo rigorous EMC, temperature, and vibration testing to ensure resilience in demanding defence environments.

Solid State added that the majority of the contract was expected to be delivered in the current and following financial year.

Matthew Richards, divisional MD at Steatite, said: "We are proud of our new facility established to provide the MOD with resilient, mission-critical systems that deliver exceptional performance, quality, and reliability - both for this project and for future programmes."

As of 0925 BST, Solid State shares were up 1.52% at 167.50p.
