LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - 1630:Close Shares finished the session lower, in generally lacklustre trading conditions, with many traders away from their desks Stateside for the Columbus Day holiday. Commodities-related issues were to be found again at the bottom of the pile. Rolls Royce was weaker on the back of news of an EU-probe into aerospace components manufacturers. FTSE 100 down 44.98 points to 6,371.18.
1630: Three-month copper futures edged higher by 0.01% to end at $5,312.50 per metric tonne on the LME.
1530: Chicago Fed president Charles Evans believes it is "way too early" to judge whether a rate hike could be warranted at the Fed's December or even October policy meeting. His preferred choice continues to be the middle of 2016.
1509: Atlanta Fed president Dennis Lockhart tells his audience "we will have a lot more [data] in October.
1235: HSBC has trimmed its forecast for increases in Bank Rate this year to 50 basis points versus 75 basis points beforehand.
1155: Rolls Royce is at the bottom of the pile as a result of an FT report that European regulators have launched an investigation into aircraft maintenance contracts.
0930: Carillion is leading gains on the second -tier index after the company came out and expressed confidence in its full-year targets.
0929: Goldman Sachs has initiated coverage of International Consolidated Airlines Group with a 'buy' recommendation. Investec on the other hand has downgraded StanChart to hold from buy.
0830: Stocks are set to start the session lower, weighed down by losses in the likes of StanChart and Rolls Royce. Randgold Resources and Fresnillo are in the lead early on. Trading volumes will likely be lower than usual due to the Columbus Day holiday Stateside which will see US treasury markets closed for trading. Three Fed speakers are scheduled to take to the podium later in the day. On Friday, the president of the Federal Reserve bank of Atlanta, in particular, sounded a slightly hawkish note. His peer at the New York Fed, William Dudley, also seemed a tad warier. FTSE 100 down 21.76 points to 6,394.50.
