LONDON (ShareCast) - "Federal Reserve officials are grappling publicly with a better kind of problem than most they’ve confronted in recent years: what if the labor market continues to improve more rapidly than they had expected?" writes The New York Times.

Ahead of the preliminary estimate for non-farm payrolls to be released later today, the paper says that the Fed is torn between scaling back it stimulus programme or staying the distance in case of a disappointing summer.

According to the USA Today, General Motors has spoken out about the potential effects of tensions on the Korean Peninsula. Chief Executive Officer Dan Akerson has said that the automaker would consider shifting production from South Korea if the situation deteriorates.

Samsung projects a big profit boost from its next-generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S4, in the first quarter, reports The Wall Street Journal. Samsung sees a first-quarter operating profit of 8.5-8.9tn won ($7.6-8bn) in the three months to March 31st.

A Nevada jury has ruled against the local Health Plan unit of UnitedHealth, deciding that it is responsible for two members who contracted hepatitis C and awarded $24m in compensation, writes The Wall Street Journal.

According to the Los Angeles Times, many employees at hedge funds are still under pressure to break the rules despite the federal government's crackdown on insider trading. The paper cited a survey commission by an industry group, publication and law firm, which found that 35% of respondents said they felt pressure to break the rules.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has fined four of America's largest mortgage insurers, Genworth Mortgage Insurance Corp, United Guaranty Corp, Mortgage Guaranty Insurance Corp and Radian Guaranty Inc a total of $15.4m over alleged kickbacks to home lenders in exchange for business, writes The Washington Post.
