LONDON (ShareCast) - Amur Minerals Corporation on Monday said it expanded the strike of the Kubuk nickel and copper anomaly at the Kun Mani licence in Russia by 50 per cent.

The exploration and resource development company made the announcement in its results of last year’s soil and rock chip sampling programme at the licence.

The company increased the Kubuk anomaly to three kilometres from two kilometres while carrying out sampling work and drilling at the licence area.

The area is a prime drill target as trenches have previously been excavated along a one-kilometre length of the geochemical anomaly.

Trenching exposed mineralised thicknesses of 48.3 metres with an average grade of 0.63% nickel and 0.16% copper.

Amur Minerals plans to drill in the target area during the upcoming 2013 field season.

Chief executive Robin Young said: "The expansion of the Kubuk nickel and copper anomaly by 50% is an excellent result and the trenches, geophysics and detailed mapping all further support a drilling programme on this area.

"Successful drilling of thicknesses at nearly 50 metres can yield substantial tonnages for consideration in production, and having further targets from which to source additional resources emphasise the highly prospective nature present within the licence area."

Shares soared 9.15% to 7.75p at 9:56 Monday.
