LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Warhammer maker Games Workshop hailed a record year on Tuesday as it posted a 29.5% jump in profit.
In the 52 weeks to 1 June, pre-tax profit rose to £262.8m from £203m the year before, with revenues up to £617.5m from £525.7m. Core revenue increased to £565m from £494.7m, while licensing revenue rose to £52.5m from £31m.
Games Workshop exceeded the guidance it gave in May, for group pre-tax profit of not less than £255m, core revenue of not less than £560m and licensing revenue of around £50m.
The company said Games Workshop and the Warhammer hobby "are in great shape" as it hailed "the best financial results" in Games Workshop's history, so far.
Chief executive Kevin Rountree said: "After a record year, we remain focused on delivering our operational plans and working tirelessly to overcome any significant obstacles that get in the way. We will continue to give ourselves the freedom to make some mistakes, constantly working on improvements in product quality and manufacturing innovation.
"Despite our recent successes we will never take our hobbyists' support for granted."
At 0815 BST, the shares were up 0.9% at 15,400p.
