LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - US social media company Twitter revealed its latest tool to combat agents trying to mislead voters in the upcoming elections to the European Parliament.
The new tool will launch next week and is set to remain until a week after the May 23-26 elections and will help users flag attempts to mislead voters during next month\'s vote.
\"Any attempts to undermine the process of registering to vote or engaging in the electoral process is contrary to our company\'s core values,\" Twitter officials wrote in a blog post.
\"Today, we are further expanding our enforcement capabilities in this area by creating a dedicated reporting feature within the product to allow users to more easily report this content to us,\" they added.
Social media platforms are under pressure from governments to control the content uploaded to their platforms and be more aware of fake news and how to tackle it.
Separately, in a report released on Tuesday, the European Commission said that platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Google had a long way to go when it came to tackling misinformation.
