LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - The market spotlight on Tuesday will be squarely on the head of the US central bank as he testifies before a Senate Committee on the coronavirus and government's CARE act.


US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen will testify alongside at 1500 BST.

Later in the day it will be the turn of regional Fed presidents Raphael Bostic and James Bullard, both of whom are scheduled to make public remarks.

On home shores, the main release of the session will be Nationwide's house price index for September.

Across the Channel meanwhile investors' focus will be on the European Central Bank, with its boss, Christine Lagarde, vice-president, Luis de Guindos, and chief economist, Philip Lane, all due to participate in the ECB Forum on Central Banking "Beyond the pandemic: the future of monetary policy".

Governing council members Isabel Schnabel and Frank Elderson are also due to take part.

On the corporate side of things and for Ferguson's full-year results, UBS analyst Gregor Kuglitsch, forecast $22.52 of sales which was just a smidgen ahead of the consensus.

Sales for the fourth quarter alone were pegged to come in at approximately $6.3bn, versus the $5.3bn achieved over the course of the previous fiscal year.

Full-year earnings per share meanwhile were seen coming in at 6.72p and earnings before interest, taxes and amortisation at roughly $2,06bn.

According to Kuglitsch "the market likely is already expecting somewhat of a beat versus consensus estimates given peer reporting, which point to somewhat stronger top line trends in Q4."
