Molecular Energies reports successful Dual Fuel hydrogen trials

By Josh White

Date: Monday 18 Dec 2023

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Molecular Energies announced a significant milestone through its subsidiary Dual Fuel (DFL) on Monday, part of its 75%-owned alternative energy development division Green House Capital Group.
The AIM-traded firm said initial trials of DFL's hydrogen injection technology demonstrated the safe introduction of 20% hydrogen into heavy-duty diesel engines.

That resulted in a proportional reduction in emissions and a substantial increase in driving range.

The 20% hydrogen displacement served as the foundational benchmark for DFL's technology, positioning it as an attractive commercial solution for heavy-duty diesel fleet operators globally, Molecular Energies explained.

It said it had already identified its first customers in Paraguay, the launch country for the technology.

DFL would now move forward with live testing on a rolling road, set to start in the first quarter of 2024.

The live testing phase would further validate the technology's viability and efficacy.

One of the key advantages of DFL's solution was its ability to eliminate the need for expensive hydrogen-only fueled vehicles and develop extensive hydrogen refuelling networks.

Those factors had historically hindered the widespread adoption of hydrogen mobility solutions.

"Operations within Green House continue to progress at pace and the latest technological breakthrough of Dual Fuel is particularly encouraging as we seek to bring this solution to a fertile target market very quickly," said Green House chief executive officer Christopher Raggett.

"Dual Fuel has a significant advantage over other hydrogen mobility solutions in that it can use existing vehicles at a modest retrofit cost, avoid having an expensive hydrogen refuelling network whilst at the same time importantly reduce carbon emissions as a transition to net zero.

"With this progress we look forward to the successful spin out and admission to AIM of Green House in 2024."

At 0808 GMT, shares in Molecular Energies were up 1.58% at 80.25p.
