LONDON (ShareCast) - Rurelec, an owner, operator and developer of power generation capacity, said Tuesday that its Senior Independent Non-Executive Director, Brian Rowbotham, had purchased 200,000 ordinary shares in the AIM-listed group.

The acquisition of the shares, bought at a price of 12.5p each, takes his total holding to 270,000.

Rowbotham was appointed to the board two weeks ago as part of a wider shake-up that also saw the appointment of Andrew Morris, the then Non-Executive Chairman, as Group Finance Director, and the addition of Colin Emson as Non-Executive Chairman.

The changes were made to ensure that the company has "the strength in depth to deliver the corporate strategy in a demanding environment".

Rowbotham previously ran his own consultancy specialising in turnarounds and start-ups until joining Hichens, Harrison & Co. in January 2005.
