LONDON (ShareCast) - Strong demand from UK and international car makers is keeping business buoyant at British engineering group Castings.
Castings, which supplies 80% of its cast iron products to multi-national car and commercial vehicle manufacturers, said it was still experiencing improved demand from customers and it expected this to continue for the next few months.
The West Midlands-based company, which also has a foundry business called Wm. Lee near Sheffield and its CNC Speedwell machining operation, said in a statement accompanying its annual general meeting that it was hoping to benefit during the rest of the financial year from signs of improvement in the European and global economies.
But Chairman Brian Cooke added a note of caution about the potential impact on the business of new environmental laws.
"We remain cautious of the potential impact of the new European emissions legislation in 2014," he said.
Shares rose 4.82% to 435p at 11:32.
