LONDON (ShareCast) - Shire's Chairman, Matthew Emmens, has sold 36,100 shares in the biopharmaceutical company following its ‘excellent’ results for 2013.

Emmens disposed of the shares at 3,314.85p each for a total of just under £1.2m shares.

After a pick-up in earnings growth in the fourth quarter, the group beat forecasts for the full-year. Revenues during the quarter rose 12% to $1.33bn, helped by strong growth in product sales of Vyvanse, Lialda/Mezavant, Vpriv and Firazyr.

Revenues in 2013 rose by 12% to $4.76bn, while the company raised its full-year dividend by 15% to 19.93 cents. Shire also said that it expects to deliver a similar level of earnings growth in 2014.

Mark Bristow, the long-time Chief Executive of Randgold Resources, has sold off 40,000 shares in the FTSE 100-listed precious metals miner.

The 4,716p-a-share sale saw Bristow make the most of the huge surge in the company's share price during the past five weeks, during which time it has soared around 1,200p after the group predicted its output would rise over the next five years.

Bristow hailed 2013 as one of the company's best ever years as it reported record gold production, up 15% on the previous year.

The miner predicted that 2014 would see a production increase of between 25% and 30%, largely driven by the progress being made at its Loulo-Gounkoto and Kibali sites.

The £1.9m deal reduced the director's holding to 714,963 shares, equal to 0.77% of the group's issued share capital.
