FTSE 250 movers: Senior stutters, Hunting heats up

By Duncan Ferris

Date: Monday 18 Mar 2019

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - London's FTSE 250 finished pretty much flat on Monday, dropping just a small handful of points to 19,486.7.
The manufacturing and engineering group was the top faller on the index and was closely followed by Aston Martin Lagonda, which fell as Jefferies cut its price target to 1,050p fro 1,400p.

Kier Group was lower ahead of the release of its interim results on Wednesday, while housebuilder Balfour Beatty dropped after the release of the Rightmove survey, which said that house prices in the UK fell in March as the usual spring boost was overshadowed by Brexit uncertainty.

At the other end of the pitch, oil field services group Hunting topped the risers after an upgrade to 'buy' from 'neutral' at UBS, where analysts commented that momentum in its non-Titan US business showed "good growth" that was expected to continue.

"We had been cautious on Hunting given the downside risk to earnings in its US Titan [shale] business, but with the recent round of capital expenditure comments we believe these risks are now well understood and priced in. Hunting's lesser-known international business, which accounts for 30% of revenues but generated an operating loss over the past four to five years, is approaching an inflection point and should start to turn positive from 2019," said the analysts.

Wood Group and Ferrexpo were higher ahead of the release of full-year results on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively, while Domino's Pizza gained as it refuted refuted claims made in the Sunday Times that the company has been misleading investors about progress in negotiations with the pizza chain's franchisees.

Finally, Equiniti crept upward after being appointed by DWF Group to administer its initial public offering, and serve as its share registrar.
