LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Security systems services company Synectics said on Tuesday that its Northern Ireland-based subsidiary Wrightbus will now provide its "connected vehicle" solution to Translink, the country's public transport provider.

Synectics stated its new contract award, which was in addition to an initial order placed earlier in the year, will see it deliver a "connected vehicle" solution based on its cloud-based software platform, with a software, support and service contract initially set to run for three years.

The AIM-listed firm added that the contract, valued initially at approximately £800,000, also included the installation and commissioning of its latest on-vehicle T2000 IP-based recording platform and IP cameras to a further 108 new vehicles to be built during 2022.

Chief executive Paul Webb said: "It is really pleasing when operators see the benefits of the new solutions which we are continuing to develop."

"We are delighted at the progress we have made with fleet operators in Ireland and Northern Ireland over the last few years, especially in their adoption of our latest on-vehicle technologies. They have been quick to take advantage of the benefits of our connected vehicle and cloud services solutions, and we expect more franchised operators in mainland UK to follow in due course."

As of 0905 GMT, Synectics shares were down 2.76% at 105.50p.
