LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Quarried materials group SigmaRoc has obtained a UK patent on its 'Alfabloc Mark II' retaining wall systems, it announced on Friday.
The AIM-traded company said that with the acquisition of Poundfield Products in 2017, SigmaRoc also acquired a series of patents covering walling systems suitable for construction, agriculture, sea defence and military applications.

Over the years, it said it had continued to develop its product portfolio with further innovations, including the evolution of its "well-known" Alfabloc system.

"The Alfabloc is an interconnecting precast concrete walling system produced in the UK, Ireland, Benelux and Scandinavia," the board said in its statement.

"Each free-standing section can be interlocked to form a continuous wall of heights up to 6 metres.

"In this way the Alfabloc system was used at for example Heathrow Airport, nuclear facilities and numerous construction and industrial applications."

SigmaRoc said Alfabloc Mark II made the installation and interlocking "even faster", with the constructed wall "entirely seamless" once in place.

"The Alfabloc Mark II will be produced as an ultra-low carbon product from January.

"The patent will allow Poundfield to continue its investment in innovative solutions."

At 1237 GMT, shares in SigmaRoc were up 3.34% at 49.5p.
