LONDON (ShareCast) - John Benedict ('Ben') Stevens, the head of finance at British American Tobacco, has sold nearly £0.7m-worth of shares in the cigarette maker.

After being awarded 39,142 shares under the company's long-term incentive plan from 2011, Stevens offloaded 18,802 of them at a price of 3,486p each.

Stevens, who has worked as finance director since 2008 and took on the additional role of chief information officer in 2010, raised £655,438 from the sale.

The director has taken advantage of the 17% jump in the stock since it hit a 52-week low of 2,871p in February.

The 20,340 remaining shares under the transaction were added to his holding, which increased to a total 148,844, including 56,476 of deferred shares.
