LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - Nanoco's non-executive chairman picked up £29,999.92-worth of shares in the company for his wife on 14 October, the company said in a statement.
Purchased at an individual price of 53.98p, the transaction increased his beneficial stake in the manufacturer of heavy-metal free quantum dots and semiconductor nanoparticles to 98,997 shares or 0.04% of its share capital, the bulk of which are owned by his spouse.

The AIM-listed manufacturer's products are used in displays, lighting, solar energy and bio-imaging.

On 11 October, the company reported a drop in its revenues for the year ending 31 July 2016 to £0.47m versus £2.03m in 2015.

Meanwhile, its loss after tax of £10.61m rose from the £8.97m loss seen in the previous period.

However, on 1 August analysts at Canaccord Genuity reiterated their 'buy' recommendation and 110p target price on the shares, hailing the non-exclusive material and licensing agreement it had inked with Merck, thus gaining access to the German firm's "broad global customer base" in the display industry.

"We note that Nanoco's existing non-exclusive deal with Dow is focused predominantly on the Korean market. Today's deal not only provides a second source of supply into the important Korean market (Samsung and LG) but also opens up the potential for global supply, including the whole of the Far East where Merck already has extensive sales and distribution capability," Canaccord said.
