LONDON (ShareCast) - Edith Shih, a Non-Executive Director and Company Secretary of Hutchison China MediPharma, acquired 20,000 shares in the firm, which is the holding company of a healthcare group based primarily in China and focused on researching, developing, manufacturing and selling pharmaceuticals and health oriented consumer products.
Shih acquired the shares for 620p a piece, giving a total trade value of £124,000. The purchased shares represent her entire holding in the group.
The transaction was made one week after a business majority owned by Hutchison China MediPharma entered into a licensing, co-development, and commercialisation agreement with US pharmaceutical manufacturer Eli Lilly.
The agreement relates to Fruquintinib, an oncology therapy for the potential treatment of various types of solid tumours.
Fruquintinib was discovered by Hutchison MediPharma and is currently in Phase II testing in China.
Under the agreement, the two will share the costs of future development and Hutchison will receive a series of payments of up to $86.5m, including upfront payments and development and regulatory approval milestones.
