View on Past Performance

October was a very volatile and difficult month for equity markets. Unprecedented, large rescue packages for the financial system were announced across the globe as governments woke up to the stark realisation that that credit crunch needed to be fought head-on - not only in order to prevent the collapse of the financial system, but to stop the impact of the crisis spreading further into the real economy.These positive efforts are likely to restore confidence in the financial system. Nonetheless, economic indicators in October continued to accelerate downwards across all geographies, aggravating worries about the outlook for economic growth and corporate earnings.
