LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - AIM-quoted scientific and technology product manufacturer Scientific Digital Imaging has lightened the load of chief executive Michael Creedon with the announcement on Friday that it will appoint Jon Abell as its chief financial officer, effective 2 July.
Abell, currently divisional vice president of finance for Ametek's Electronic Instruments Group, will bring over 35 years of business experience to SDI's board, drawing from a well dug across various industrial companies in the UK and Italy, as well as senior financial management roles in Germany, the Netherlands and the USA.

Ken Ford, chairman of SDI, said, "We are delighted that Jonathan has agreed to join SDI and are confident that his considerable experience will strengthen the board."

In its April trading update, SDI revealed that it now expects full-year revenues, adjusted and reported pre-tax profits to be "moderately ahead of previous expectations". In addition, the firm anticipated adjusted and reported profit after tax to benefit from a reduced group tax charge, which includes increased research and development tax credits accrued for both this year and the next.

As of 1030 BST, SDI shares were trading flat at 42.50p.
