FTSE 250 movers: Carillion surges as investors cheer contract wins

By Michele Maatouk

Date: Monday 12 Oct 2015

LONDON (ShareCast) - (ShareCast News) - London's mid-cap index was down 0.6% to 16,990.42 at 1545 BST, in line with the broader market as investors struggled for direction amid an absence of market-moving news.
Shares in Carillion surged after the construction and support services group expressed confidence over its full-year targets, as it said it has signed contracts, secured preferred bidder positions and been awarded frameworks worth around £1.7bn since 30 June.

Chief Executive Richard Howson said: "With cash flow remaining healthy and these recent contract successes, we remain confident of achieving this year's targets, including ending the year with strong revenue visibility for 2016."

Bank of Georgia was also a high riser after saying its healthcare subsidiary Georgia Healthcare Group intends to list on the London Stock Exchange.

Bank of Georgia said the planned initial public offering is an important transaction, as it represents the first realisation of its investment in non-banking businesses, and demonstrates the potential to unlock the significant value described when the group announced its new corporate strategy in December 2014.

On the downside, Indivior slumped after announcing that the District Court for Delaware has granted its motion to amend its complaint to specifically refer to Teva Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd's abbreviated new drug application for a generic equivalent to its opiate addiction product Suboxone.

The company's complaint now specifically refers to the application to market a generic version of two of the strengths of the Suboxone product in the US.
