LONDON (ShareCast) - CPP Group, the British-based company selling life assistance products, announced on Wednesday the appointment of Duncan McIntyre as Non-Executive Chairman with immediate effect.

McIntyre will succeed Charles Gregson, who announced his intention to step down on December 2013.

Since January 2011, McIntyre has been a non-executive director of CPP and is currently also Chairman of the risk and compliance committee. His duties at the latter post are to be handed over to Ruth Evans, another Non-Executive Director, on January 1st.

The soon to be Non-Executive Chairman is a qualified accountant and previously led Morse - the construction and automation services company - as Chief Executive Officer. He was also described by CPP as a “key architect” in the building of Monitise.

CPP, which was initially a provider of card protection insurance, first listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2010.

Brent Escott, the current Chief Executive Officer(CEO), joined CPP towards the middle of 2013, replacing Paul Stobart as CEO following the mis-selling scandal of 2012.

The incoming Non-Executive Chairman said: "CPP has made good progress following a period of immense challenge and change. We still have more work to do, but will work with all our stakeholders to resolve the remaining challenges and are determined in our efforts to stabilise and strengthen the Group for its next phase of development […]."

As of 12:24 the share price of the £24.45m market-cap firm was 22.58% higher at 14.25p.
