LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Ireland and Finland-focussed explorer and developer Conroy Gold has been granted three further prospecting licences in the Longford-Down Massif in Ireland, it announced on Monday, covering 100 square kilometres.
The AIM-traded firm said application for the new licences was made before the joint venture with Demir Export was agreed in March.

It said it intended to apply for the licences to be transferred to Conroy Gold Longford-Down - one of the joint venture companies with Demir Export - which would bring the total number of licences held by the joint venture in the Longford-Down Massif to 15.

The licences granted were considered to have potential for both gold and base metals and, when transferred, would bring the area held by the joint venture in the Longford-Down Massif, on which a district-scale gold trend extending more than 65 kilometres was discovered, to nearly 1,000 square kilometres.

"I am very pleased that these additional licences have been granted which add considerable additional, and attractive, acreage for exploration in the Longford-Down Massif where our joint venture with Demir Export is looking, at Clontibret, to develop a gold mine and where we have announced a drilling programme commencing later this month," said chairman Richard Conroy.

At 1113 BST, shares in Conroy Gold and Natural Resources were down 1.5% at 31.52p.
