LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Ilika has kicked off shipment of pre-launch evaluation samples of its mm-scale Stereax batteries, code-named Golden Hind.
The AIM-listed firm's Golden Hind batteries, designed for miniature medical implants, were shipped to the firm's original equipment manufacturing partners across the USA and Asia on Tuesday.
Ilika's commercial OEM partners will now begin developing mass-market medical products based on the batteries' mm-scale dimensions, solid-state biocompatibility and long lifecycle.
The prototypes were also undergoing parallel evaluation at Ilika's facility to fully qualify the cells for a product launch in early 2019.
As of 1455 BST, Ilika shares had rocketed 17.65% to 20p.
