LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Technology-focussed language, content management and intellectual property service provider RWS has completed the acquisition of Horn & Uchida Patent Translation, it announced on Thursday.
The AIM-traded firm described Horn & Uchida as a specialist in patent translation, based in Osaka, Japan, with the acquisition being completed for cash consideration of JPY 349m (£2.3m).
It said Horn & Uchida was founded in 2000, and had built a reputation for high-quality services to Japanese corporates and law firms.
Horn & Uchida was being acquired by KK RWS Group, the company's Japan subsidiary, and would extend its in-house patent translation capability and its geographic coverage in the country.
"The acquisition of Horn & Uchida is an ideal fit for RWS and will complement and strengthen our existing patent translation services business in Japan," said chairman Andrew Brode.
"It will also help our United States and European customers to internationalise their intellectual property in the important and growing Japanese market."
At 0923 BST, shares in RWS Holdings were down 0.09% at 581p.
