LONDON (ShareCast) - US fund manager Loomis Sayles has purchased a 0.53% stake of Spanish telecom Telefonica on the New York Stock Exchange for a total of $461m.
Bloomberg reports that the US company purchased 24.12m ADR (American depositary receipt) shares of Telefonica in the third quarter. This operation makes Loomis Sayles the main holder of Telefonica ADR shares.
This investment also makes the US group the ninth largest institutional shareholder of Telefonica behind BBVA, Criteria, BlackRock, BNP Paribas, Vanguard Group, China Unicom, Thornburg Investments, and Franklin Resources ahead of Capital World and T Rowe Price.
By 08:01 in New York, Telefonica’s ADS shares were trading 0.22% higher at $18.64 in pre-market trade.
