LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - Lead, zinc and silver developer Europa Metals announced positive results from x-ray transmission (XRT) ore sorting test work at the Toral project in Spain on Wednesday.
The AIM-traded firm said a bulk sample of siliceous mineralisation and two further discrete carbonate samples from the indicated mineral resource zone at Toral were evaluated by Tomra in Germany.

It said the XRT test work formed part of a wider metallurgical programme, including locked-cycle flotation test work and tailings evaluation for backfill.

Results from the siliceous bulk sample showed "excellent" recovery of 95.7% lead and 94.3% zinc metal, a 43.7% mass rejection of waste, an overall enrichment ratio of 1.7 for both the lead and zinc, and an increase in the zinc equivalent to 6% from 3.56%.

The company said results from hole TOD-025D specifically revealed a recovery of 98.9% lead and 94.7% zinc metal, a 46.8% mass rejection of waste, an overall enrichment ratio of 1.9 for lead and 1.8 for zinc, and an improvement in the zinc equivalent grade to 12% from 6.57%.

At hole TOD-028, the work demonstrated a recovery of 96.6% lead and 96.1% zinc metal, a 47.7% mass rejection of waste, an overall enrichment ratio of 1.8 for both the lead and zinc, and a rise in the zinc equivalent grade to 7.67% from 4.24%.

"These latest positive results from Tomra form part of our ongoing metallurgical work programme for 2022 and enhance the potential to efficiently exploit the resource at Toral," said executive chairman and acting chief executive officer Myles Campion.

"These results build on previous test work results - announced on 28 August 2020 - and demonstrate the potential for further optimisation of the Toral project."

At 1432 GMT, shares in Europa Metals were up 3.75% at 4.15p.
